W L Brown’s Conversion
36-38 Southwark Street

Christchurch

Engineers & foundry office conversion.

Situated in Southwark Street in the South frame and on the door step to the innovation precinct in what is now a CBD hot spot.

With construction, to repurpose by conversion, these two industrial buildings will commence in January 2018 and will see them repurposed for innovative collaborative multi office use.

There will be a café and courtyard area at the frontage to make the most of the North facing aspect.

The buildings have been the home of WL Brown Limited a family business since 1953, a business built on a history of innovative engineering ideas and performance on the race track as the family were involved in the motor cycle world riding speedway bikes.

Ronnie Moore, Ivan Major and Bert Munroe all frequented the workshops with Bert sleeping there the week prior to setting the world land speed record at Bonneville flats on the salt tracks.

The repurposed buildings will incorporate the history of performance, with completion late 2018.
