Kensington House - Project
183 - 187 Manchester Street

Christchurch

Kensington House was one of the first steel framed buildings constructed in Christchurch, having been designed in 1928 as a four level building, construction was completed in 1930 at two levels as the Great Depression had taken its toll.

The building had served occupants well pre the 2011 quakes, with law firms, restaurants, offices and retail shops in residence and it was KPI Rothschild’s first office.

The 2011 quakes took its toll on the building resulting in the insurers calling it a total loss. But we didn’t want to lose it, so expended well over our settlement from the insurers to bring the building back.

The result speaks for itself.
